Hi, I’m Alyssa

I’m a designer living in California’s Mojave Desert with my tuxedo cat, Ziggy. I guess you could say his black and white coat inspired the branding for my candles :)

I’ve always enjoyed making candles, going back to visits to Calico Ghost Town as a kid where you could customize your own hand-dipped candles. During the pandemic, I moved from Venice Beach back to my Mojave Desert hometown. While stuck at home, I rediscovered my love of candle-making. Drawing inspiration from my surroundings, I formulated my first two candles, Mojave and Sundazed and listed them on Etsy.

I used the name “dizzyvapor” to setup an Etsy shop because it’s been my online alias since 2002 and was already my Instagram username (It’s a mashup of a couple of songs from a band called Orgy). It’s a name that’s stuck with me my entire adult life. I remember going to setup my XBox Live screen name and my college roommate demanding it be dizzyvapor because it was my Twitter name. “You’re dizzyvapor! You will ALWAYS be dizzyvapor!”

If you couldn’t tell, I’m a bit of a geeky gal and while I have a number of candles inspired by where I live, I also enjoy making candles inspired by pop culture as well Nordic inspired candles like Loki, Thor and Freya.
